Twenty-six food businesses across Enfield borough have new hygiene ratings dated September on the Food Standards Agency register. Twenty-five of them took the top score of 5.
The one exception was Junglees Enfield, at 48 Church Street in Enfield Town, rated 4 on 29 September. The FSA describes a 4 as good. Nobody in the borough was rated below that in September.

The date is the date of the inspection. Three businesses show only a postcode district or are listed as mobile. The FSA withholds the address where a business operates from a private home, so home caterers appear with an outcode only.
Where the inspectors went
September is when school kitchens reopen, and it shows in the list:
- six school kitchens, including the caterers at Wolfson Hillel Primary in Southgate, Houndsfield Primary in Edmonton and Garfield Primary in N11
- four care homes, three of them within a few streets of each other in Bush Hill Park
- one nursery, Head Start at Crews Hill
- two pubs and bars: The Stag and Hounds on Bury Street West and Moon Lounge at Angel Road Works
- a park cafe, at Pymmes Park in Edmonton, rated 5 on 1 September
All six school kitchens scored 5. The caterer at Wolfson Hillel, Lunchtime Company, was rated on 17 September, the same month the school was given two Exceptional Ofsted judgements. We reported on the inspection here.
One perfect score
A 5 can hide small differences. Inspectors also score three areas: how food is handled, the condition of the premises, and how food safety is managed. On the register, a lower score in each area is better, and 0 is the best possible.
Only one business rated in September scored 0 in all three: the Greggs at 172 South Street, Ponders End, inspected on 8 September.
The register has not yet published the area scores for Junglees Enfield or for the Grange Park Prep kitchen, both rated in the last days of the month.
What it means for you

- Businesses can appeal a rating within 21 days, ask for a re-visit once they have made improvements, and publish a right of reply on the register.
- Last month’s ratings are in our August roundup.
