Southgate's Walker Ground fireworks and drone show is on Saturday 7 November: gates 5pm, display 7.30pm, adults £14, child £9.50, family £43, under-5s free.

The Walker Ground in Southgate holds its fireworks night on Saturday 7 November, and the drone show is back for a second year. Gates open at 5pm and the fireworks and drones go up at 7.30pm.

The event is the main annual fundraiser for The Walker Cricket Ground Trust, the charity that runs the sports ground on Waterfall Road. The trust says it draws around 8,000 to 9,000 people each year.

Richard Ellwood, one of the trust’s trustees, wrote to us about this year’s display. “The event has established itself as one of North London’s leading community fireworks displays,” he said. “Following the success of our drone display in 2025, we’re expecting another fantastic evening this year.”

Tickets and times

Tickets are sold on the trust’s Eventbrite page. The prices listed there when we checked on 23 October were:

Ticket Price
Adult £14
Child (up to 16) £9.50
Family (2 adults, 2 children) £43
Under 5s Free

The drone show is included in the fireworks entry ticket. Eventbrite lists the event as running from 5pm to 10pm, and its refund policy is “no refunds”.

What is on the night

The trust says the evening will feature:

  • a fireworks and drone display
  • live music from The Shambles
  • mirror men and fairground rides
  • food and drink stalls

The trust’s fireworks page promises “burgers, hotdogs, jerk chicken and various cuisines from around the world”, along with doughnuts, waffles, toffee apples and candy floss. It also mentions a merry-go-round and inflatables, and suggests coming early to use them before the main event. The poster adds bouncy castles to the list.

Getting there

The trust recommends walking. Its fireworks page says there will be road closures and bus diversions on the night.

  • Tube: Arnos Grove and Southgate, both on the Piccadilly line
  • Rail: New Southgate and Palmers Green
  • Bus: stops at either end of Waterfall Road, under five minutes’ walk away

The trust says each station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the ground. Entry to the event is through the main entrance only.

Where the money goes

The Walker Ground is a registered charity (number 303006). Its fireworks night pays for the upkeep of the ground the rest of the year.

“The Walker Ground is a charitable trust and an important local sporting hub, supporting cricket, football, rugby, tennis, squash and other activities for people of all ages,” Mr Ellwood said. “Our fireworks event is our main annual fundraiser, helping us maintain and improve the facilities for local clubs, young people, families and the wider community.”

The trust’s website lists three cricket pitches, eight football pitches, a rugby pitch and four tennis courts. The pavilion has six squash courts, changing rooms, a bar and a function room. The trust says the ground gets more than 140,000 visits a year.

According to the trust’s history, it was set up on 19 December 1907 by Russell Donnithorne Walker and three other founding trustees. The land was given in perpetuity for the people of Southgate to play cricket, football, hockey and other games.

Mr Ellwood, a signal technician, has been a member of Southgate Adelaide Cricket Club for 30 years, the trust’s website says. He coaches colts cricket and local football as a volunteer.

Other displays in the borough

Enfield Council’s own display in Enfield Town Park is a week earlier, on Saturday 31 October. Times and tickets for that one are in our Enfield fireworks guide, and the rest of the month is in What’s On in Enfield.
